8th Grade In-Person Graduation Plans Released

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to provide our 8th-grade students and families an opportunity for a modified “in-person” graduation.  As much as we would love for this to be normal graduation, we must follow specific guidelines and procedures during this time.  Therefore, graduation will look different this year than it has in the past.

Graduation will take place throughout the day on Friday, August 28th beginning at 9:00 am in our auditorium.  Students will be divided into groups of 10 based on their last name and scheduled in 30-minute increments.  Each student will be allowed to bring up to 4 family members to attend graduation.  A contact information sheet must be completed that will supply names and phone numbers of each guest.  Attire for the event is the same as always, which we consider “church attire.”  Below are the following guidelines we must follow as per the Pike County Health Department:

  • 8th grader and their guests will enter through the auditorium foyer and exit through the auditorium side door.
  • Guests must arrive with their 8th grader and must enter as a group.
  • We will be providing a contact information sheet, and it must be completely filled out. This is the “ticket” in the door.  We will hand out these sheets during 9th grade orientation.
  • Temperature checks will occur upon arrival.
  • Please arrive at your scheduled time, as we are limited to a certain number of people in our auditorium at one time.
  • Groups will be seated in designated areas in the auditorium.
  • Masks are required.
  • We ask that you take pictures after your scheduled time and please don’t congregate.
  • Anyone with Covid-19 symptoms should not attend.
  • Anyone who is under a 14-day quarantine period as directed by the health department should not attend.
  • The makeup date for anyone unable to attend will be Friday, September 11th.

We are confident we can all work together to provide an enjoyable experience for this 8th-grade class!  This has been an unusual year, under unusual conditions, and our hope is to offer them a positive memory to conclude one chapter and begin another.
