Twenty-four teachers were honored as Valvoline Teachers of the Year at a ceremony on May 20 in Frankfort. Pikeville High School math teacher, Ashley Adams was one of the 24 teachers honored at the ceremony. Government officials, state dignitaries and Sam Mitchell, chief executive officer of Valvoline, honored the teachers and recognized the Kentucky Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers of the Year. The Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award recipients were awarded cash awards and certificates at the ceremony.
Judging was conducted in March by a blue-ribbon panel of veteran educators. Applications included information on the nominees’ teaching philosophies, teaching experiences and involvement in their respective communities, as well as letters of recommendation from peers, students, parents, administrators and others.
Congratulations Mrs. Adams for your dedication to the Pikeville Independent School students, parents, colleagues and community.
